The Thursley Horse Shows were huge events that took place in the late 1950s and early 1960s before being wound up. They were taken very seriously, note that the President was Richard Dimbleby and the array of Vice-Presidents included Lt Col W Whitbread who, at that time, owned Thursley Common.

The Festival of Britain was a national exhibition and fair that reached millions of visitors throughout the United Kingdom in the summer of 1951. This sale led to the breakup of the Cosford Estate and included: Cosford House; Cosford Mill; Cosford Park; Mill Farm; Wheelers Farm; Hill Farm; and Lower Highfield Farm.

Wilfred Pickles ‘Have a Go’ was broadcast from the Old Village Hall in Thursley in February 1958.
